EATING DISORDER AND ITS EFFECT TO OUR HEALTH


 Eating disorders
Let us highlight some of social and cultural factor......
Just think of the times when you have just finished having a nice full meal, and feel that  you cannot have morsel more , and in comes your uncle with your favorite chocolates and ice cream. You forget you are full and dive into chocolates and ice cream.
And in opposite, suppose you are really hungry, and that too in a foreign country land , and all you can possibly think is food,and let’s say looking at your difficulties someone takes a pity on you and offer you  their  lunch consisting  of worm, snake or dog meat, would you accept such a proposition? Or would you consider  consuming even gruel in such situation.?????
1        OBESITY
Obesity is a condition of severe overweight. Many would dismiss the problem as relating  to a person  poor self-control. It is a complex  disorder of appetite  regulation and energy metabolism that is controlled  by biological factor. It lead to diabetes ,high blood pressure, an increased risk of a heart attack, arthritis,sleep disturbances,certain type of cancer and a lot of psychological  problem.


2           ANOREXIA NER VOSA
This is an eating disorder characterized by a preoccupation with food. People who are suffering from this disorder are those who refuse to eat any food (self-starvation) and leading to a  sudden weight loss.  Physical cause of this condition are unknown, but the psychology factor that contribute to anorexia nervosa include a preoccupation with thinness ,in an attempt to avoid obesity. It may afflict men and women of any  age group,  but it is more common  among young  women between 12yrs to 30y.



3           BULIMIA
Bulimia  is a eating disorder characterized by consuming  vast amount of food ,follow by a feeling of  guilt which results in the person resorting to self-induced vomiting and  taking of laxatives to rid the body of unwanted calories. This cycles of bringing,vomiting taking laxative create a chemical imbalance in the person and may sometimes lead to a heart failure but is usually not life threatening .
